our story
a bag with a postcode.
we make one bag, in six colourways. heavyweight 100% recycled cotton canvas, 29 litres of honest space. it's the bag we wanted to carry every day, so we made it the only thing we sell. built for Brighton, made to be used.
01 · about me
how this started
Brighton born and raised, i've lived here my whole life.
this city has shaped how i see the world, the value of community, the importance of living sustainably, and the belief that the small decisions we make every day matter.
Brighton has always had a culture of caring. about sustainability. about where things come from. about supporting the people and places that make it what it is.
The Brighton Bag Company came from wanting to be part of that. to make something that truly reflected those values. something that could play a genuine role in reducing plastic waste, that was created with real consideration for how it was produced, and that gave something back to the Brighton community.
a bag felt like the right place to start. something people use every single day. something with the potential to replace hundreds of plastic bags over its lifetime. something worth doing properly.
02 · the bag
what we make
we've created a bold typographic tote bag designed for Brighton people, and people who love Brighton. a heavyweight 100% recycled cotton canvas shopper in our hero design - the original Brighton bag.
the vintage wash and hand screen printed finish means each one comes out slightly its own. no two are exactly alike. truly Brighton.
every bag is carefully sourced and ethically made from 100% pre-consumer recycled cotton. this means factory offcuts and surplus material rescued before reaching waste and certified to the Global Recycled Standard.
it's then hand screen printed right here in Brighton, using eco-friendly water based ink.
03 · the ethos
what we believe
that sustainable choices don't have to mean compromising on quality or design.
that reducing plastic waste happens one small decision at a time. that the bag you carry every day is one of those decisions.
that businesses, however small, have a responsibility to support the community they're part of.
that's why 10% of every Brighton bag sale goes to local Brighton good causes. this city has given me everything. this is one small way of giving something back.
